Restaurant Review – Marco’s, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi

Have you ever been to Frankie’s at the Fairmont, Abu Dhabi? If you visit it now, you will truly feel as though it never existed. One of the most accomplished chefs in the world has turned it into (and the name should say it all) Marco’s.

Marco Pierre White became both the youngest chef and the first British chef to be awarded three Michelin stars. He has trained notable chefs such as Mario Batali & Gordon Ramsay. I was lucky enough to meet my idol as he attended the grand opening on this day.  Charming and polite, neither of which I expected from his bad boy reputation.

Now for the restaurant, I have been a patron of Frankie’s for almost 5 years and while it was cozy, it lacked the open concept that Marco’s has replaced. There are nice touches such as the modern furnishings, chefs popping pizzas into the brick oven and a bright courtyard with seating and a super long bar.

As it was lunchtime, I had a bite of almost everything brought to me. Prawns, wings, beet and Caesar salad, steak and fries. Nothing too pretentious. I would say that it is one of my favorite spaces now in Abu Dhabi. I’m looking forward to visiting Marco’s sometime in the evening as I’ve heard the atmosphere is like night and day. 😁

Highlights:

  • Modern decor
  • Variety of seating options
  • Bright courtyard
  • Simple delicious food
