Homemade Hummus & Pita Chips – Healthy Snack Recipe


  • 1 can chick peas
  • 1 tablespoon Tahini paste
  • 1 ½ fresh lemons squeezed
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Water for a healthier version or olive oil
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • Tablespoon Hot Sauce (to taste)
  • Extra virgin Olive oil & paprika (garnish)


  1. Drain the chickpeas and put into the blender.
  2. Add the Tahini paste.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice.
  4. Add some salt, a little at a time.
  5. Mix these ingredients to begin smoothing the hummus.
  6. Next add a little water to loosen the mixture.
  7. Add the minced garlic
  8. Add hot sauce
  9. Blend until creamy and smooth.
  10. Taste one final time to make sure there is enough salt.

Serving Suggestion

Pour the hummus on a platter or large bowel.  Garnish with paprika and extra virgin oil & serve with homemade pita chips.  (Recipe for the chips is in the video) Enjoy!
